Sunday Funday #2 (Week 1/24/11-1/30/11)

Pretty Little Liars
Careful What U Wish 4
(1/24 @ 8pm EST ABC Family)
IMDB summary: "As the school gets ready for the dance-a-thon, Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer have more on their minds than raising money for the school trip to Washington, DC. Hanna is having a hard time finding a job to help her family's financial situation, but when "A" has a job for her, will Hanna be able to refuse? Emily can only think of Maya and is desperate to speak to her -- so much so that she enlists the help of Caleb, the new bad boy in the school. And as an important piece of property goes missing, Spencer finds being in close quarters with her new brother-in-law, Ian, more difficult than ever. Meanwhile, Aria's former babysitter, Simone, comes back to town for a surprise visit. But what should be a happy reunion quickly becomes a nightmare for Aria when Simone sets her sights on Ezra."

Bring on the new characters, we have Caleb the new yummy bad boy who I think has a thing for Emily, woo woo and Simone, Aria's babysitter and the bump in her and Ezra's relationship, thanks to her ma trying to set Simone and Ezra up, way to go ma. I know I usually go for the good boy but I'm really liking Caleb, thanks for the new eye candy ABC Family.

And Lucas is back, aww I love Lucas, he's good for Hannah, I really hope he doesn't go all psycho on her (I mean he was po-ed enough to destroy Alison's memorial). A is such a ::cough:: rhymes with witch ::cough:: and is it just me or does A have it out for Hannah more so than the other girls? Poor Lucas and Hannah.

Ian is Terrifying, absolutely freaky. Everything he does is so creepy and menacing. So of course Emily gets krunked (and a little cranky) and confronts him saying she knows what he did and he won't get away with it, Spencer covers and says Em was talking about their kiss last summer, he then threatens her. A bit too intense for someone who was just talking about a simple kiss over a year ago. So Spencer's computer goes containing the scary video of Alison.  The suspect Ian but have no proof, even after it shows up in Spencer's house, video erased but plus one creepy pic of Alison leaving the barn on the night she died. She was being followed. The show just keeps getting creepier and creepier.

Ella saw A!!! OMG!!! That was sooooooo crazy creepy!! Can't wait for next week, did you see the preview, insane!

Being Human
There Goes the Neighborhood: Part II
(1/24 @ 9pm EST SyFy)
Another fantastic episode. We learn more about Sally in this episode, how she died and just how strong the bond between her and Danny is. It's so strong that her desire to be seen by him becomes so intense he actually has a moment where he senses her.

Aidan thinks he killed Rebecca, little does he know that she was turned, now he has to deal with that. And Josh has to deal with telling his sister he can never see her again.

Greek
All About Beav
(1/24 @ 9pm EST ABC Family)

YAY!! I love Beaver :o) This episode is all about Beav, yay!! He is by far my fav character so this is awesome!! This is the best episode ever and it's only been 5 minutes :o)

What we learn:
  • He gets a phone call every morning from his ma telling him he's a star of his own life or something like that.
  • He sleeps with a stuffed Penguin named PenLucky.
  • Aww he likes Katherine "Pretty Lady" (she likes him too :o).
  • His name is Walter.
  • He's such a nerd (Glee and White Chocolate Raspberry Mocha Lattes with extra whip classic!)
  • He's going to be a kindergarten teacher!! "For the children"
We also learn a little about Heath, apparently he is a striper and a seller of term papers.

Beav Quotes:
"Poptart PB&J?"

Beav: "Want me to pass a message on to Casey for you?"
Cappie: "Yeah that didn't turn out so great last time"
Beav: "It's not my fault 'I'm going to be late' sounds like 'I'm going to masterbate"

Casey: "I'm seeing you alot today"
Beav: "Maybe I was there all along you just didn't notice"

Even though this amazing episode focused on Beaver there were other character story lines. Here is a quick list:
  1. Rusty gives a presentation about his self healing wire, it gets the funding but he is kicked off the project after the decision is made to give the project to a professional research team. Really sucks
  2. Rusty and Dana break up.
  3. Rusty and Ashley share an intimate hug...they keep showing the preview of them kissing, when is this going to happen?
  4. Rebecca uses Cappie to make Evan jealous which results in a fight between the two. (Beav is his wise ways points out that they fight because they both fell in love with Casey, interesting)
That's basically it and I will say it again BEST EPISODE EVER!! Much <3 for Beaver. He's hot, sweet, funny, wiser than he acts, and loves kids, can he be real please!!

Vampire Diaries
The Descent
(1/27 @ 8pm EST The CW)

IMDB Summary: "Stefan has his own ideas about Elena's new plan for the future. While Damon tries to get the truth out of Jules, he asks Elena to keep an eye on Rose, a situation that turns unexpectedly dangerous. Caroline and Matt try to be honest about their feelings for one another, and Tyler's reaction to Caroline's generosity comes as a surprise to her. Damon struggles to hide his true feelings when a life-and-death crisis hits him harder than he expected."

Stupid snow made me miss the entire episode thank goodness The CW played it before Superantural.

Vampire Rose is getting worse after she is bitten by Werewolf Jules, Damon geniusly leaves Elena to take care of Rose (in my opinion not one of his brighter moments) who then thinking she is Katherine attacks her. Rose then goes on a rampage attaching people and killing them because of the dementia the werewolf bite is causing. It's really very sad. And you can tell Damon really cares about her, about whats happening to her, it's very obvious in the end when he kills her (since that's the only way to cure a werewolf bite) after he helps her see visit her favorite place when she was a human in a dream. I'll admit it I teared up a bit.

Stefan tries to help Elena find Isobel since Elijah said she was the one who could get them to Claus. He calls Isobel but instead of her he gets John.

Matt kisses Caroline, who freaks out and runs away then tells him she loves him then freaks out again and runs away again. Caroline then tells Tyler that if he were to bite her, he would have killed her. Then Tyler kisses her and she freaks out "Everyone needs to stop kissing me."

Then Tyler meets up with Jules who tells him she's a werewolf and can help him. She then tells him that Caroline isn't the only Vampire in Mystic Falls.

Damon lost Rose because Jules was trying to kill him but bit Rose instead, so drunk, grieving, full of guilt he does something so very very very stupid, he kills a girl. Not good.

Supernatural
Like a Virgin
(1/28 2/4 @ 9pm EST The CW)

So apparently The CW decided to move Superantural from tonight to next Friday 2/4. You can imagine the up roar this has caused among the Supernatural fandom. We are NOT happy. I kept staring at that the guide my brain not comprhending why Nikita was on instead of Supernatural. Boo on you CW boo on you. #saltandburn

Book Blogger Hop #1

Featured Questions: "What book are you most looking forward to seeing published in 2011? Why are you anticipating that book?"

There are so many:
  • Defiance (Strange Angels #4) by Lilith St. Crowe (4/19/2011) --> This is one of my favorite series and I am desperate to find out what happens to Dru and her friends.
  • Dead Reckoning (Sookie Stackhouse #11) by Charlaine Harris (5/3/2011) --> I'm addicted to the Sookie Stackhouse novels, I will admit that I was left a little unsatisfied with the last installment but I'm hoping this next one will stand up to the Harris standard.
  • What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen (5/10/2011) --> Dessen is one of my favorite authors, I read the first chapter to this and it sound phenomenal.
  • Texas Gothic by Rosemary Clement-Moore (7/12/2011) --> Another one of my favorite authors, it feels like it's been forever since her last book although its only been 2 years.
There are many more but these are my top 4.

Book Review: Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy #6) by Richelle Mead

This final installment of Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy was exactly what I hoped it would be. Fabulous, gripping, heart pounding, page turning and a perfect ending to a series I love so much.

The constant twist and turns in the plot keep you on the edge of your seat while the romatic story lines and political intrique are heart pounding.

It's amazing that even after 5 installments Mead continues to teach you new things about the world she created. She also does an excellent job ending the storylines that have glued us to the pages of the previous novels while still leaving us craving more with cliff hangers that will hopefully be resolved in her next series Bloodlines. We must say good bye to Rose and Lissa but it's not the end of the Vampire Academy world we have come to know.

If you are a fan of paranormal/romances this is definitely a series you do not want to miss out on. I will miss Rose's sarcasm and irrational but heroic adventures. I will miss Lissa's kindness and regality. I will miss the friends they trust and the boys they love. I will miss them all but I could not be happier with the way they said goodbye.

Cover Crazy #1: Defiance (Strange Angels #4) by Lili St. Crow

Why I love it:

1. The colors. they are so vibrant especially the teal-ish background and I love the peach to white title.

2. The girl. I don't know if it's how they have her angled or if its the black tank top against the bright background but she is very vivid.

It's definitely a cover that grabs your attention and makes you want to check out the book, good thing this series is fabulous. For once you can definitely judge a book by it's cover.

Waiting on Wednesday #4: Dead Reckoning (Sookie Stackhouse #11) by Charlaine Harris

Goodreads description:
"With her knack for being in trouble's way, Sookie witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte's, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is now known to be two-natured, suspicion falls immediately on the anti-shifters in the area. But Sookie suspects otherwise and she and Sam work together to uncover the culprit - and the twisted motive for the attack. But her attention is divided. Though she can't 'read' vampires, Sookie knows her lover Eric Northman and his 'child' Pam well - and she realises that they are plotting to kill the vampire who is now their master. Gradually, she is drawn into the plot -which is much more complicated than she knows. Caught up in the politics of the vampire world, Sookie will learn that she is as much of a pawn as any ordinary human - and that there is a new Queen on the board . . . "

If you absolutely love this series as much as I do and cannot wait for May 3rd to sink your teeth into this new installment no worries Charlaine Harris has posted a preview of the first chapter on her site, check it out.

Teaser Tuesday #2: Firespell (Dark Elite Series #1) by Chloe Neill

"I had basement and hospital grime to wash off, not to mention the emotional grime of (1) more of Foley's questioning of my parents' honesty; (2) having been unconscious and apparently near death for twelve hours; (3) having been the victim of a prank that led to point number two; and (4) having been carried out of a dangerous situation by a ridiculously pretty boy and having almost no memory of it whatsoever. That last one was just a crime against nature."

Sunday Funday #1

I love love loooove books but I also enjoy my TV shows, my weekly Sunday Funday post will be where I will discuss/geek out about that week's episodes of said shows (Check out My DVR page for more information on the shows I follow and love). It will contain spoilers so beware. Also any movie news and random books new will occasionally pop up in this post as well. Enjoy!

Pretty Little Liars (1/17 @ 8pm EST ABC Family)
Monday was the third episode (Know Your Frenemies) of the part of season 1 of ABC Family's new hit series Pretty Little Liars, based off of the books by Sara Shepard.

IMDB episode description: "Relationships are in flux in Rosewood, PA as the Liars face many obstacles. As Noel steps up his pursuit of Ezra and what he can gain from his knowledge, Aria and Ezra start to feel like there may be no way out. Emily must also deal with opposition to her love life, as her mother Pam's perceived tolerance of Maya comes to a screeching halt. And Spencer must now handle the return of happy newlyweds Melissa and Ian, even though her suspicions of Ian's ties to Alison grow. But with the other girls' support and unexpected help from an unlikely source, the future for the Liars doesn't look so hopeless. Meanwhile, "A" has Hanna jumping through old habit hoops with regard to the stolen money. Will Hanna fall back into her old ways, or does she have the willpower to stand up to "A" and her games?"

Let's review what has happened thus far:

1. Hannah: A hits her with a car after she sees someone write "I see you" on Ezra's car window while Aria and Ezra are kissing inside, A thinks she knows too much.  Now she's in the hospital being pumped full of drugs and in her pain killer induced state she finds out that Lucas <3s her (and was the one to destroy Alison's memorial), that Mona wants to be friends again and is paid a visit by Alison who says she "needs to do something about this A" and A who leaves a message on her cast (creepy!!).

Now she's home and learns that her mother has taken out a "temporary loan" from the bank that she works at and has hidden said loan in a box of lasagna noodles. After Mona surprises her with a welcome home party Hannah descovers that A has taken the money.  This brings us up to date, A is threatening to tell the police about Hannah's ma's unauthorized loan unless she does exactly what they say, aka eat a box (6) cupcakes with little piggies decorated on them created for Hefty Hannah then go puke it all up, it was so awful, poor Hannah (she does not puke, thank goodness). She does get some of the money back but not all of it, so there will be new awful things from A to Hannah tomorrow night.

2. Aria: Someone saw her and Ezra kissing in his car at Camp Mona, that someone was Noel (also the rest of their gang now knows about Ezra/Mr. Fitts). Noel uses this knowledge to blackmail Ezra into changing his grade from a C to an A. When Ezra refuses, Noel threatens to go to the principal. Ezra decides to resign from his teaching position and leave Rosewood but before he can someone tips the principal off that Noel has test answers in his locker. After the very public scene this causes A leaves a message for the PLLs saying "A stands for Alison not amateur" so apparently Noel is not A, and we're back to square one.

3. Spencer: After the PLLs find Alison and Ian's names surrounded by a <3 carved into a tree and then the entire tree disappears, Spencer is more than suspicious of Ian. Now Ian and Spencer's sister are married and planning on having a baby, obviously Spencer is not happy about this. She over hears a convo between the two that makes her question the motives for the marraige, is it love or alibi? Then she learns that the summer before Alison's death both Alison and Ian were in NC at the same time. At the end of the episode the girls are given a tape of Alison on the night she died. You see Alison, happy and flirtatious, the camera then shifts to show Ian then there is a struggle the camera is dropped and you see Alison's hand flop in from of the camera unmoving. Very intense.

Also Toby returns to school to find his locker spray painted with the word Murderer across it and open taunts of the same word being shouted at him in the hall. Spencer has always pegged Toby as the murderer and A but now there is evidence to the contrary and after witnessing a child running from him in terror Spencer spies him crying in an alley, not something a murderer would do, atleast I don't think so, although I wouldn't under estimate Jenna.

4. Emily: Has come out to her parents and they meet Maya, her girlfriend. Emily's Mom is noooot happy and after walking in on the girls studying, but thinking something scandalous is happening she freaks out, causing Maya to leave with out her backpack, in which she snoops around in and ends up finding pot. Emily's Ma tells Maya's parents who decide to send her off to a reform camp. The girls give Emily and Maya one last night together before they are seperated for who knows how long. So apparently Maya is now out of the picture, however if I've learned anything from watching this show nothing is ever what it seems.

So now we have even more questions then we did when this show started. Can not wait to find out what happens tomorrow at the dance-a-thon, I'm sure the suspense will be unbearable.

Being Human (1/17 @ 9pm EST SyFy)
In the series premiere (There Goes the Neighborhood: Part I) we meet a vampire, Aiden, and a werewolf, Josh, who are not only friends but work together at a hospital. Both are unhappy with their lot in life so they decide to find an apartment together and attempt to live normal lives. However the apartment is haunted by a young woman, Sally, the fiance of the land lord who died suddenly and mysteriously in her sleep. No one could hear or see her until these two move into her place now she won't leave them alone, mostly because she can't leave the apt. With in the first 5 minutes of the episode we not only see Johs change but we witness Aiden kill a young woman who also worked at the hospital. He calls for help and the "situation" is taken care of by Bishop (not sure if this is Aiden's maker but there is definitely tension and history between the two). The girl's mother starts plastering missing posters all over the hospital and everyone knows that the girl had a thing for Aiden, now the police are on to him, something Bishop says only he can fix.

As this is all happening to aiden we learn that Josh had a bright future then suddenly disappeared from home (because he got bitten and became a werewolf), we learn this after his sister shows up at the hospital and they are reunited. Aiden finds him a room that locks once closed and can only be open from the outside, a perfectly safe place where Josh can change, a place where he won't accidently kill anyone/thing however that is until his sister follows him to this secret room and locks them both inside. Josh is in a panic but Aiden is unreachable so he tries Sally. It ends with Sally trying to get out the door.

I really enjoyed it. I can't wait for tomorrow's episode and to see how this entire show turns out.

Greek (1/17  @ 9pm EST ABC Family)
Quick recap: we start off the new season with Casey staying in CRU for law school and becoming ZBZ house mom. Cappie is trying to prove to Casey that he can grow up and take life and school seriously. Rusty has one pledge this year, a legacy named Pledge Spidey, becasue someon called the police who end up busting their rush party, causing them to lose all their pledges. Dale decides to rush and starts pleding Omega Chi much to Rusty's horror.

Now that we are all caught up lets start discussing this episode Cross Examined Life. Ashley is back in CRU!! She left her job in NY because it basically sucked so yay Casey has her bff back and just in time too bc her fellow law students all hate her. They think she slept her way into the CRU law program. But by the end of the episode we watch her go all Legally Blond on their butts proving to all that she deserves to be there oh and Katherine is back. The rest of the episode is Rusty realizing that the Omega Chis actually want Dale as a pledge and Cappie and Calvin bonding over a school assignment.

That's it for the shows this week. Besides new episodes of the above shows, Vampire Diaries, Nikita and Supernatural are all back next week, yay!!!

Waiting on Wednesday: Delirium by Lauren Oliver

Goodreads description:
"Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that once love - the deliria - blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the governments demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holoway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.

But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love."

It'll be available for all February 1st but if you can't wait till then Books Complete Me is hosting the Official Delirium Blog Tour. Starts January 24th and goes through to the 28th. Check out Books Complete Me and  Lauren Oliver's site for more information on the book and the blog tour.

Teaser Tuesday #1: Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy #6) by Richelle Mead

It occured to me that I was not doing Teaser Tuesdays correctly or really it was in my own modified way. I apologize for including spoilers in my TTs, I was really treating them more like reviews then Teasers, my bad. Well I'm gonna do it right from now on.

I just finished Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy #6) by Richelle Mead.

Follow Friday #1

This is my first Follow Friday post, FF is hosted by Parajunkee's View, it's a way for fellow bloggers to gain followers and find new and exciting blogs like Parajunkee's FF feature blog: The More You Read, The More You Will Know (check her out and make sure you follow her :o).

My FF blog choice is Yankee on the Move. Not only is she one of my best friends but she's a great writer. It's not a book blog, which for many is a good change of pace, but she has very thoughtful posts and even shares some delicious recipes.  Check her out, leave a comment and as Parajunkee says follow follow follow.

Parajunkee's FF featured question: What makes up your non-human family??

At my apartment I have 3 plants and my childhood stuffed animal Rufus the Dog but at my parent's house is our 10 year old Welsh Corgi Sydney.  She's really smart and funny. She definitely knows she's one of the Queen's Dogs, she's such a princess. I love her very much, she's my second sister. We got her when I was in 8th grade so even though I don't live with her anymore I still see her as my dog. Actually my sister brought her over for a sleep over last night (even though the apt complex is no dogs allowed....shhh don't tell anyone)

Happy Friday Everyone!!

I'll try to keep you updated on my progress, wish me luck :o)

Waiting on Wednesday: The Demon Trapper's Daughter

My choice for my Waiting on Wednesday is The Demon Trapper's Daughter (Demon Trappers #1) by Jana Oliver it comes out February 1. It's about "seventeen-year-old Riley, the only daughter of legendary Demon Trapper, Paul Blackthorne." Riley is an apprentice Trapper living in Atlanta who's "local Trappers’ Guild needs all the help they can get – even from a girl," what with "Lucifer increasing the number of demons in all major cities." She thought her life was crazy what with balancing homework, demon trapping and a crush on fellow apprentice, Simon, but that's nothing compared to what lays a head for her in this first installment of Oliver's new series. (Goodreads)

I'm excited about this novel, I always enjoy the stories about humans who step up to fight the supernatural. When someone asks if I would rather be a vampire or a werewolf I always choose human, a human who can kick ass and hold her own against supernatural creatures. And here we have another strong human female character doing just that, I can't wait to read this book. It's also a nice reprieve from the vampire/werewolf genre, not that I don't loooove that genre, but it's nice to take a break and enter the world of a different paranormal being, in this case demons.

So if I haven't said it enough, I'm gonna say it one more time, I can't wait to start this series. But since it doesn't come out till 2/1/11 here is an excerpt which you can read on the Macmillian site. Enjoy!

Waiting on Wednesdays is hosted by Breaking the Spine

Awakened (House of Night #8)

Just released January 4th it took me one weekend to read P.C. and Kristin Cast's latest installment in their House of Night series. A quick and easy read it was sexy, fun and exactly what I expect from the Cast duo. This series has it's obvious flaws but I'm still completely addicted to it. And this was a good addition.

::SPOILER ALERT::

Zoey and Stark are back from the goddess Nyx's Otherworld and fully healed from their battle with Kalona (well as fully healed as you can get after what the Casts put them through in book 8, Burned), they are happy, safe and completely in love on Sqiach's magical island, while back in Tulsa Neferet is fully aligned with Darkness and has full control Kalona (although he is less than happy about the situation.)  After the sudden and violent (I cried) death of sweet Jack at Neferet's hand (although no one can prove it)  Zoey and Stark return to Tulsa to find their home in complete chaos. All I'm going to say is that it gets so crazy that finally Nyx, the goddess herself, steps in, showing her self to everyone at the Tulsa HON, including Neferet, who some how regains control of the HON, this is one of the things that I did NOT like about the book. I mean the Goddess, the one they all worship and follow, shows her self and basically says that Neferet is evil and she will not forgive her for what she did and yet the Tulsa HON, who were all there for this, stupidly listen to Neferet obviously twist their Goddess's words around then blindly follow her and help her kick Zoey and her gang out of the HON, of course they will be back for classes. So other than the sometimes immature dialogue (which can get a bit annoying) and the "heart warming teary eyed made for family tv" life lessons/discussions that seem to fill the novel (which are nice but can also be a bit annoying) and the incredibly frustrating way the other vampires and fledglings blindly accecpt Neferet back as their high priestest, even after everything that happened, everything she did and NYX HERSELF SAYING SHE'S GUILTY (I mean you would think they are smarter than that but nope), so other than those things, I still really enjoy this series. This was a good installment, with plenty of "YAY!!" and "OMG!!" moments, enough for me say that I can't wait for Destined to come out on November 5.

Inspiration: "You know how it is with cats: They don't really have owners, they have staff."  P.C. Cast (Chosen)

Reaper (A Soul Screamers Novella) by Rachel Vincent

I'm a huge fan of Vincent's Soul Screamers series and Tod Hudson the reaper brother of Nash, Kaylee's bean sidhe boyfriend, has always been my favorite character. I tend to gravitate towards the smart ass good guys, guys that seem like assholes but deep down are really chivalrice heroes, men who stand up for what's right even though they don't appear to be the gentlemen they are, this is Tod, and I adore him.

Unfortunately Tod is not one of the main characters, although I would place him in the major charator category, you never really get to hear his side of the story until now. A major Thank you to Rachel for giving us a chance to learn a little more about, in my opinion, one of her more interesting characters.

::SPOILER ALERT::

And because of this novella I am even more in love with Tod Hudson. I am the oldest of two and I would give my life for my little sister, this is exactly what Tod does. From the first three books we learn he was killed in a car accident but what we didn't know was that it really wasn't his time to go, but Nash's and because he is a true hero he offers himself to the reaper in exchange for his brother's life. Nash doesn't know any of this I wonder if it comes out in the most recent Soul Screamers installment (My Soul  to Steal released 1/4/2010 aka it's available now) which I haven't had a chance to read yet.

We also learn how Tod became a reaper, and that before Kaylee came into Nash's life Tod had actually seen her strapped to a bed in a hospital (if you are confused check out the first novella of the series, My Soul to Lose (Soul Screamers #0.5), which may attest to his protectiveness of her. We also learn a little more about Nash's relationship with Sabine, an ex-girlfriend who appears in MSTS.

This is a must read for any Soul Screamers fan. Oh and if I haven't said it enough I love Tod Hudson!
