Waiting on Wednesday: The Demon Trapper's Daughter

My choice for my Waiting on Wednesday is The Demon Trapper's Daughter (Demon Trappers #1) by Jana Oliver it comes out February 1. It's about "seventeen-year-old Riley, the only daughter of legendary Demon Trapper, Paul Blackthorne." Riley is an apprentice Trapper living in Atlanta who's "local Trappers’ Guild needs all the help they can get – even from a girl," what with "Lucifer increasing the number of demons in all major cities." She thought her life was crazy what with balancing homework, demon trapping and a crush on fellow apprentice, Simon, but that's nothing compared to what lays a head for her in this first installment of Oliver's new series. (Goodreads)

I'm excited about this novel, I always enjoy the stories about humans who step up to fight the supernatural. When someone asks if I would rather be a vampire or a werewolf I always choose human, a human who can kick ass and hold her own against supernatural creatures. And here we have another strong human female character doing just that, I can't wait to read this book. It's also a nice reprieve from the vampire/werewolf genre, not that I don't loooove that genre, but it's nice to take a break and enter the world of a different paranormal being, in this case demons.

So if I haven't said it enough, I'm gonna say it one more time, I can't wait to start this series. But since it doesn't come out till 2/1/11 here is an excerpt which you can read on the Macmillian site. Enjoy!

Waiting on Wednesdays is hosted by Breaking the Spine

Inspiration: "Riley Blackthorne just needs a chance to prove herself – and that’s exactly what the demons are counting on…"
