A Dragon, a dog, a cheeta and a platypus walk into a bar....

This is going to be a very random post but that is one of the reason I set up this blog, it's so when something random hits me that I want to write down I have a place to put it. So today's spaztastic musing is about people and their favorite animals. My sister asked our family what was our favorite animals and I couldn't help but notice that we each picked an animal that best represents ourselves.

My ma picked a Cheeta. Graceful, fierce and quick.

My dad the Platypus. Odd, rare and funny.

My sister a Dragon. Magical, fiery and powerful.

Me I picked a dog. Loyal, kind and very playful (maybe even a bit hyper).

What's your favorite animal?

Waiting on Wednesday: Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead

This is my first "Waiting on Wednesday" post and my blogging has fallen to the way side lately so I hope that I can revive my blog with this new weekly post.  "Waiting on Wednesday" was created by Breaking the Spine (learn more on her blog).

Anywho, I thought I would do my first WOW post about "Last Sacrifice" by Richelle Mead since yesterday us Vampire Academy fans were given the chance to read the first chapter (check out her blog to read this sneak peak) of this greatly anticipated 6th installment. I read it last night and I am dying for it for be December 7th (that's right it's less than a week away and I can barely contain my excitement!!)

The Vampire Academy series is about a strong willed and firey damphir Rose Hathaway and her best friend gentle and kind Vasilisa (aka Lissa) Dragomir a royal Moroi and last in her family line. In case you don't know, Damphirs are half human/half Moroi, this means they do not need blood to live (like the Moroi do) but they are stronger and faster than your average human. They are the protectors/bodyguards of the Moroi, who like your traditional vamps need blood to live but unlike them they are more elegant and dignified and have special powers connected with the elements (earth, fire, water and air), these are the most common elemental powers, there is also Spirit, which is extremely rare (so of coure Lissa is a Spirit user). The Damphirs protect the Moroi from Strigori, which are basically what you would picture a terrifying vampire to act and look like. Supernaturally strong, fast and evil. Strigori are Moroi who chose to kill other Moroi and humans when drinking from them. They can only come out at night and are basically very very scary.

This series has everything you could ever want from a vampire based series: undying love, battles, political intrigue and a sassy hard ass strong female lead who is constantly kicking ass and making you shout "You go girl!!"

The last 5 books we have watched Rose do anything to protect her best friend, do anything to save her true love and now in this new installment we will watch Rose battle for her life. December 7th can not come soon enough.

Inspiration: "You can't force love, I realized. It's there or it isn't. If it's not there, you've got to be able to admit it. If it is there, you've got to do whatever it takes to protect the ones you love." Richelle Mead (Frostbite (Vampire Academy, #2))

Supernatural Season 6 Premiere

AMAZING!! I missed my Winchester boys (especially Dean...looooove Dean).  I will fully admit, I cried, balled like a freakin baby to Season 5's finale. Now don't get me wrong I am so so so so so so sooooooooooo happy that there is going to be a season 6 but if the series had ended at Season 5 I would have been satisfied with that ending.  Eric Kripke you are the man.  But since its not going to end at Season 5 all I have to say is EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And this first episode has already proven that this will be a very interesting season.

::SPOILER ALERT::

It's been a year since Dean and Sam saved the world and stopped the apocolypse.  Dean now has a family, Lisa (the only woman he has ever wanted to settle down with) and her son Ben (who I know Dean loves as if he were his own). He has a beer every night with his new bff and neighbor Sid.  He drives an old yellow pick up (no more 67 Chevy Impala ::cries a little::) and has an honest, steady day job. Yes he has a devils trap painted on the floor under the rug by the front door and sleeps with a shot gun and holy water under his bed but Dean is a retired hunter. That is until he is poisoned by a djinn and almost dies only to be saved by Sam...that's right I said Sam. The Sam Winchester, the younger brother who fell into a bottomless pit that led straight to hell taking the devil with him. Yeah he's back.

Sam is BACK!!

Back from hell and he has no idea why or how. Can you say suspect?! Castiel did not make an appearance in this episode and according to Sammy has been unreachable, so he's no help at all (thus far). Also Sam has been back for a year (p.s. Bobby even knew) and he's been hunting with actual family.

Enter the Cambells.

If you are as much of a die hard Supernatural fan as moi you know that the Cambells are Dean and Sam's mother's family.  The Cambells have been hunters since "the mayflower" to quote Samuel Cambell (that's right grandaddy is back....resurrected at the same time as Sam, again don't know how, don't know why). In Season 5 we found out that Mary Winchester grew up a hunter and now we finally get to learn more about one of the oldest and greatest hunter families ever (I can't wait!!). But again SUSPECT!! Because after taking down 2 of the 3 djinn that are after Sam and Dean (a whole revenge thing), Samuel and fellow Cambell hunters capture one and hide this fact from the brothers. Very suspect.

Samuel mentions that the usual monsters are acting strangly, Werewolves turning on the half moon not just the full moon things like that, and there are new monsters, creatures that no one has ever even seen before. But why would Samuel, a life long hunter, born and bred to exterminate supernatural creatures, want to capture one alive?  I read in an EW article that this season was going to focus on both the Cambells and the origins of Monsters.  This is definitely going to be a very interesting season. I can't wait for next Friday!!!

Pretty Little Liars season finale is on...can you say intense?!

PLL season finale was awesome, intense and completely insane. What I went away with: I <3 hannah, the parents are just as crazy and as messed up as their kids (if not more), Camp Mona looked awesome (even if it's name sake is a bratty psycho) and A is C-R-E-E-P-Y and a total nut job. My cousin did let blab the ending to the entire series to me last week so you can't imagine how interesting it is watching this, knowing exactly how it ends. Can't wait for it to start back up in the fall/winter, not really sure when that will be exactly but I'm excited :o)

This is going to be a short blog tonight, I'm pretty beat, it's been fun so until tomorrow stay secretive my pretty little liars.

oh my god the bend and snap works everytime

Is this not the most insanely awful thing you have ever heard? In Portland, Oregon at a local fiar a little girl was selling lemonade for $.50 a cup when two health inspectors approached her asking to see her $120 license and when the other vendors rallied around her because she didn't have this "license" the inspectors threated her with a $500 fine until she left in tears. Can you say power trip? WTF health inspectors what is wrong with you? Kids have been raising money for toys and candy via lemonade stands forever, it's an American Tradition and those puff balls ruined it. Well at least the Multnomah County Chair called to apologize for the incident and koodos to the vendors who rallied around the little girl. You can find out more about this story here, also check out these photos of the Preston & Steve WMMR Intern Lemonade Stand, they're way of showing just how absurd the whole Oregon situation was. What are your thoughts?

TGIF!!!

It's finally Friday!! Unfortunately this has been a tough week but now that it's over lets de-stress with a fun relaxing weekend Bo) <-- he's wearing sunglasses if you couldn't tell.

So I think I'm slowly getting the hang of this whole blogging concept. I know I have to work harder on getting the entries out on time but that will become routine quickly. There are 2 major things I need to do to better my blog: 1. Design. I have added some widgets/gadgets but I would like to add more and definitely tweet the design a bit. 2. Research.  With work and what not it's really tough trying to keep up with the latest news and making sure it's accurate and sourced properly. So if you see something that maybe wrong or not sourced correctly please let me know, I will definitely fix/update it ASAP.

I've been a little movie crazy this week but I've come across so many great trailers that I can't help it, I must share it.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World will be released on Friday the 13th of this month and I must say it looks positively wonderful. It's already received an 88% on RottenTomatoes, which is pretty awesome.

Dare I say it? This movie may be worth spending $10 to see in theaters.

And it's based off of a comic book, that is so yay!!

We're gonna need a bigger boat

So you know how I said that I believe in Karma and that sending hate out into the universe is bad Karma, well I'm about to break my own rule, I HATE CENTIPEDES!! Nothing should have that many legs, be able to move that fast and recide in my apartment. Waking up at 1:30 am to a papa sized centipede moving across your bedroom ceiling is not what I would call a good time. And why must they be so damn hard to kill? I mean seriously I almost used up all of my hair spray and the giant can of raid trying to kill this freak of nature and it still wouldn't die, that is not until I crushed it with a flip flop then flushed it down the toilet. I am not ashamed to say that I am a girl who is afraid of spiders, I have nightmares about spiders that are so bad my friends and family loving refer to them as "Spider Dreams" and at the moment I would take a spider over a centipede any day, which is a big deal for me. So sorry universe but I hate hate hate hate HATE centipedes. Bleh!!

So I was on IMDB the other day and I saw that on March 25, 2011 a movie called Sucker Punch will be released, have you seen this? It's looks bad ass!! the trailer is really kick ass, I suggest you take break from your busy work day and check it out.

There are a whole series of these posters this one is the main character.

Happy Hump Day!!

The summer of 2010 will be coming to an end soon, is anyone else as blown away by the fact that it's already August as much as I am? Lets reflect on our summer activities shall we? I worked, spent my first summer in my own place, read ALOT, started weight watchers and already lost 11.8 pounds, went to the beach, got my first real tan in years, turned 24, and started this blog. A pretty good, chillaxing, productive summer if I do say so myself but next year I have a little more planned:

1. Reach goal weight before bday and wear a bikini to the beach
2. Turn 25 in style
3. Lukestock
4. XTU Concert
5. RenFaire BeerFest
6. Comic Con 2011 - I'm most excited about this. After going through the videos, photos and articles from this year's Comic Con I am definitely going to be there in 2011.

This morning while I was getting ready for work I saw a trailer for Vampires Suck. It's probably blaspheme, as an avid reader of the vampire genre, but I am definitely going to see this movie.

Civilian: the Blackeyed Peas?
James: Why does everyone think we're the Blackeyed Peas?

YAY!! They will be...wait for it....

Review: Jealousy (Strange Angels #3) by Lili St. Crow

I finished Jealousy (Strange Angels #3) by Lili St. Crow, aka Lilith Saintcrow, last night and it definitely lived up to my expectations. If you had never heard of Strange Angels until now it's The CW's Supernatural meets Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy, which means it's AWESOME!!!

However, if I could use one word to describe this series it would be "gritty." You almost feel uncomfortable and tense while reading this, which surprising enough is not a bad thing, in fact I would say it is one of the many reasons why these books are worth reading. Strange Angels is not light and fluffy, the "love/romantic" scenes do not feel like "love/romantic" scenes, and Saintcrow leaves little to the imagination when it comes to the gory details.

These books have a sense of reality, as if the REAL World actually exists in our word. Dru's character is developed so well that you find yourself feeling how she feels, this goes for all the characters no matter how small, if they are good you care about what happens to them, if they are evil you strongly dislike them with a passion (because we don't hate, we don't send that karma out into the universe). Nothing is perfect, even the unnaturally beautiful djamphir boys have their flaws. This is unusual for young adult novels which is probably why I love it so much.

Throughout the first two novels Dru is this strong female character, sure of her world, even with the existance of the REAL World. She can take care of herself, thanks to her dad's training and the touch. Even though she's dealing with the loss of her father, the confusion that came with the knowledge of her mother's identity and past, and the fear of the nosferatu hunting her, you never get a sense of Dru ever losing control. Although, everything comes crashing down on her in this new installment.

There's a constant current of fear, confusion, grief, exhaustion and tension that runs throughout this novel. There is plenty of action, mystery and, unlike the previous installments, romance (and since I am a hopeless romantic I was very pleased about this). Unfortunately, Dru did annoy me a bit with her whining and denial of the obvious (I spent alot of time yelling at the book or sighing in frustration which awarded me somestrange looks) but when I reflected on her behavior, I had to admit she was handling everything much better than I ever could. I mean you would be whiny too if you were always on edge, always exhausted, always sad and on top of all that you're dealing with boy drama, a bitchy "pretty" girl (only other female in the whole school besides you by the way) who is obviously out to get you and uncontrolable frizzy hair. I would definitely be pmsing.

In the end we get the old Dru back and a cliff hanger so good you won't be able to keep your aspect from showing. This is a must read page turner that you won't be able to keep from devouring. I guess all that's left to say is Bravo Lilith Saintcrow, now lets get that fourth installment out asap please.

What's up my nerdz?!

The much needed beach weekend was awesome!! Of course anytime I can be near the ocean is calming and wonderful :o)

Random musing but as soon as I get some money I am going to pay attention to my car (clean it inside and out, get the air conditioning fixed again, and get the blinkers fixed b/c I'm tired of them choosing when to blink) and I'm gonna buy me some Boy Meets World DVDs. Seasons 1-3 available for less than $17.00 in stores on 9/7/2010...holla!!

Some random news for you animal lovers the baby girl Giraffe made her public debut at Philadelphia Zoo today. Go here to vote on her name (personally I don't like any of the 3 names but whatcha gonna do), the winning name will be picked in September.

2 squirrels and 178 days later...

First things first...Happy Birthday to my baby sister (Love you scampers :o) and Detective Carlton Lassiter (aka Lassie)!!

Now on to the blogging....

We have blown past the midway point of 2010 so it's time for the annual New Year Resolution review.

My twenty-ten resolutions were:

1. Move out of my parents house
2. Reach my goal weight by my 25th birthday
3. Write my novel
4. Save more, Spend less

The half way review is:
1. Check!! Holla!!
2. Just turned 24 so I've still got time but I am well on my way.
3. Working on it, not going as well as I would like, however I am planning on taking a creative writing class this fall.
4. Yeeaaah about that....

So far so good, high fives all around.

I'd like to introduce you all to Cory Pete and Eric Pete.

I found these two little guys lying on the ground out by my office's parking lot. The nest was in pieces next to them.  I wrapped them in a towel, placed them in a box and took them to a wild life rescue. As of a few days ago they were healthy and happy at their new home. And yes they are squirrels. Save the baby squirrels!!!

This marker smells like grapes...& now my work to-do list does too.

Since this is my first entry and I have no idea what I want to write about I am just going to bombard you with random musings, news and whatever else may pop into my head during the blogging process.

Obviously I am doing this instead of work, it's not my fault my brain has already left on my vacation taking my attention span and work ethic with it.

Might as well talk about what I can't stop thinking about....Inception and JGL (aka Joseph Gordon-Levitt).

Let’s start with the less creepy of the two, Inception was PHENOMENAL.
If you are planning on spending an obscene amount of money on a movie this weekend my advice to you is to spend it on Inception. Great special effects, unbelievable acting, suspenseful, fun, action packed, insightful script, just add a bag of gummy bears from Wawa (cause bob knows I'm not about to spend 20 bucks on a chewy teddy) and you are set my man. I would say that this was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. 4 stars on the Happy Happy Joy Joy meter.

And now let’s move into creepville, JGL was HOT in this movie. If he can, he should dress like a 50's gangster all the time. I always thought he was cute but I never thought of him as sexy and damn was I wrong. Since my body is stuck at work with no attention span or work ethic I spent my day researching this bodacious boy (shh don't tell the boss). I found hitRECord.org. This is a project he had started a little over 5 years ago and has since "evolved into a professional open collaborative production company." (JGL, hitRECord.org) If I made or knew how to make mini movies I would be all over this site like white on rice, as it is I don't but I'm still going to pass it on to you lovely people. Anyhoo, if you get the chance to check out this site make sure you watch Morgan M. Morgansen's Date with Destiny and Morgan and Destiny's Eleventeeth Date - The Zeppelin Zoo. I suggest paying close attention to the narration; I thought that was the best although the art is amazing too. Front Pillows... haha classic.

Well it's Hump day and you know what that means...PSYCH

Yup that's right Wednesday nights are Psych nights, one of the best shows on tv, or at least I think so. In tonight's episode Shawn and Gus take on aliens with the help of guest star Freddy Prince Jr. It's gonna be awesome.

If you haven't figured it out yet I am 100% a honest to bob book worm, so this section is dedicated to anything and everything literary world related.

Moving right along, my favorite author Rosemary Clement-Moore has officially posted her next book on goodreads.com. At the moment it's titled Texas Gothic and it's due to be published sometime in June 2011 but there is a plot summary and that alone should be enough to hold me over until then.

Jealousy (Strange Angels #3) by the sassy Lilith Saintcrow comes out TOMORROW!! Like the self proclaimed dork that I am I have already pre-ordered it on my Nook :o) and plan on spending the weekend reading it whilst lounging on the beach.

Since I'm blogging illegally (on company time) I have no time to do some serious book news searching so that will be all for today.

Well it's almost quittin' time so until tomorrow stay cheerful my friends.
